Task - based learning (TBL) is an approach that makes the task the basic unit for planning and teaching. This contrasts with some approaches focusing on grammar. The rationale underlying TBL originated in the communicative approach. Proponents of the view argue that "you learn a language by using it." One of the first experiment with TBL took plae in 1970s, in soutern INdia, and is known as the Bangalore Project in which its architect, NS. Prabhu, designed and tuaght a syllabus of tasks.
