Coherence and Cohesion




We often hear the term coherence and cohesion, but do we really know the meaning of those two terms?

Coherence is a property of discourse where sentences are connected in a meaningful way.
Cohesion is a property of discourse where sentences are connected in a meaningful way.

Those two definitions are taken from the glossary of Techniques & Principles in Language Teaching written by Larsen- Freeman and Marti Anderson in 2011
